Generational nurture: culture and place

Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have found your deeds unfinished in the sight of my God. Revelation 3:2

What is good from your cultural, geographic or historical legacy that you wish to protect, preserve and bring into the future?

Generational nurture: Family

As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you” Isaiah 66:13

At some point, we need to recognize that, however functional or dysfunctional our families may seem, none of us survived infancy and childhood without a lot of care and nurture from the generation before us. That generation did not survive without the same nurture, and so on. We are here because we have a legacy of nurture. We take this with us into our future.
What has been nurtured in you by your family? What ‘Generational blessing’ can you see when you reflect on your own family history? What strengths have you seen in your own family that you take with you?

Genesis Moment: Unless a seed dies

Jesus said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.” John 12:24 (ESV)

QUESTION FOR REFLECTION:

Have you experienced a ‘Genesis Moment’ in your life? That is, when have you seen creativity, growth and failure go hand-in-hand to ultimately produce great beauty?
